Pollstaronline Year End 2002 Top 100 Tours
![]() ![]() |
Pollstar has compiled the 2002
year end top 100 tours.
Ranks 75th
Guns N Roses ranks in 75th! Very good results
for such a "short" a tour announced on so short notice and had next to no
promotion at all (in my opinion, Clear Channel Entertainment could have done a
better job promoting the tour). Now imagine how high Guns N Roses will rank in
the 2003 numbers if they release the album
"Chinese Democracy" and goes
on tour to promote it.
Average ticket Price
The average ticket price was quite low, I would even say reasonable at 46.72
$US. In 2002, it was been cheaper to see Guns n Roses than to see Cher,
Aerosmith, *NSYNC, or Britney Spears. Then again, if you count in the price of
all those extra travel arrangements in case of cancellation or the
cancellations...
Average ticket Sold
The average ticket sold is very low. Here's why: The first half of the
concerts had a dramatically low attendance because of a combination of
the lack of promotion and people not wanting to risk purchasing tickets, make
travel arrangements, and/or get caught in a riot. The second half of the
concerts was sold out or next to sold out because people got confident Axl Rose
would make it on stage and because they had heard of the other Guns N' Roses
concerts and how good the concert was.
City/Shows
City/Shows = 16/16
Pollstar was either very generous or made a mistake by giving Guns N Roses a
"City / Shows" rating of 16/16. The actual "City / Shows" rating is
16/35.
City/Shows = 16/35
Conclusion
The numbers are not bad al all considering
the lack or promotion. I've seen the concerts and I can say that the concert
totally rocked. After the concerts, GNR fans where ecstatic about the concert
that had just seen. Now imagine how high Guns N Roses will rank in the 2003
numbers if they release the album
"Chinese Democracy" and goes
on tour to promote it.
